Bringing a Smile to Oxfordshire!

National Smile Month is coming to Oxfordshire, as Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust will be holding a special event to back the national campaign.

The Oral Health Promotion team are hosting a National Smile Month Roadshow in May 2012.  The team will be on board the ‘Health Bus’ and will be offering free oral health checks, providing  oral health information and advice whilst providing an opportunity for Oxfordshire residents to signup with an NHS dentist.  To help get Oxfordshire smiling residents are invited to share their favourite joke for a chance to win an exciting oral health prize!

Heather Duignan (Health Improvement Practitioner) said: “National Smile Month is an excellent opportunity to bring an element of fun to a serious issue. Good oral health is vital for a healthy smile as well as a healthy body, and we’ll be spreading that message at our events.”

The Foundation’s Chief Executive Dr Nigel Carter said: “I’m delighted that the Trust has joined the many schools, colleges, health professionals and other dental practices in engaging with National Smile Month. It is a great reflection of local community spirit and an excellent way to promote good oral health.

By making their event as fun and imaginative as possible, we hope it will inspire more people to join in the fun than ever before while delivering the Foundation’s three key messages for good oral health of brush for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks and visit the dentist regularly – as often as they recommend.”

Oxfordshire residents can catch up with the National Smile Month Roadshow on:

  • Wednesday 16th May (10am – 3pm) at Market Square, Abingdon
  • Tuesday 29th May (10am – 3pm) Bridge Street, (Outside Marks and Spencers), Banbury
  • Wednesday 30thMay (10am – 3pm) at Cowley Retail Park, Garsington Road, Oxford.
