We know that coming into hospital can be an anxious or unsettling time but we would like to reassure you that all the staff on the ward will be there to make you feel welcome, show you around the ward and help you settle in.
Our wards cater for different ages, sexes and conditions, so often have specific arrangements relevant to their patient groups. The arrangements for your ward will be explained to you by a member of the nursing team when you arrive and you will be given a copy of the ward information booklet which will have everything you need to know about your care and support during your stay. It will also give you information about items you can and can’t bring with you onto the ward. Your named nurse will also always be available to answer any questions you have and you will always know who this is for every shift.
Please be aware that any items considered harmful to either yourself or others will be held or disposed of by the nursing staff and we would also ask that you do not bring any valuables onto the ward. If this is unavoidable please ensure that you do hand them to one of the nurses for safe keeping as soon as you arrive.
