Who we work with
We work with adults (18 and above) with acquired communication, voice or swallowing disorders, because of neurological or physical impairment:
- communication impairments including difficulty producing and using speech, or difficulty understanding or using language
- voice impairments including voice loss as a result of structural change or misuse
- swallowing impairments including difficulty with feeding, chewing or swallowing
Diagnosis
The majority of our clients have a diagnosis of:
- stroke
- brain injury
- progressive neurological condition such as motor neurone disease or Parkinson’s disease
- dementia (for swallowing only)
- cancer of the mouth or throat
- physical disability
- structural changes to anatomy e.g. pharyngeal pouch
- chronic medical conditions such as COPD, which may lead to swallowing difficulty.
Our clients live in Oxfordshire and need to be registered with an Oxfordshire GP.
