Jayne Lewis, Community dietitian – Home enteral feeding paediatrics
Jayne’s nomination
Jayne has worked at OH for over 20 years. In that time her caseload of children and young adults who are enterally fed in their own home, has grown from 103 in 2015 to 165 in 2022.
The complexity of these patients has increased significantly with the 0-5 year old cases increasing by 30% largely due to increased survival rates of neonates.
Jayne works as a sole practitioner dietitian for these patients and over the years has got to know and provide personalised support to many families.
Not only is Jayne highly skilled clinically but she has been able to carry this increasing caseload over many years, without complaint, as the service is woefully underfunded.
Jayne is currently a B6 and works as 0.8 WTE. Without exception, the feedback from Jayne’s patients and carers is exemplary, with Jayne receiving numerous accolades either personally or via IWGC.
She is highly regarded within the community dietetic team as well as the broader dietetic national body, contributing to development and research in specialist areas, such as blended diets.
Within OH Jayne works alongside many of the CNN’s as well as other HCP’s and is a well respected fountain of knowledge in all aspects of paediatric nutrition.
Her calm and methodical manner is a credit to the caseload pressures that she carries and her dedication to these patients is evident.
Jayne shares her extensive knowledge with junior staff and students as well as supporting the wider CD team.
This is just one of many examples of patient feedback Jayne receives; “A child who was on my caseload for over a year and have now discharged him after a lot of input to parents and eventual tube weaning” – “”Thank you for all your efforts in getting little xxxxx to where he is today. We genuinely could not have done it without your support and guidance, thanks again, we’ll never forget it””
An absolute credit to the Community dietetic team, Oxford Health and the Dietetic Profession.
