Getting More Help

The Getting More Help service delivered by Oxford Health Foundation Trust offers assessment and treatment to children and young people with severe and enduring mental health needs. This includes the following presenting difficulties:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression and mood dysregulation
  • Post traumatic stress disorder
  • Self harm (alongside other mental health difficulties)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Eating Disorders

We work with the child or young person, as well as with their parents or carers and sometimes also with other professionals who are involved in their support.

Treatment

The Getting More Help team will carry out a specialist assessment of your needs. Following this assessment they may offer you a range of evidence-based interventions which relate to your difficulties (such as talking therapies).

In some circumstances you may be offered consultation with one of our consultant psychiatrists to consider whether you would benefit from pharmacological interventions (medications).

The evidence-based treatments we offer include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Psychotherapy
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills)
  • Anxiety management skills
