Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We are a recognised Disability Confident employer and have a variety of staff networks which create a community of support for staff and patients.

BME Staff Network

The Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) staff network is a forum for staff from all ethnic backgrounds to support the wider work of race equality at the Trust.

What we do:

  • Support the work of the new Workforce Race Equality Standard
  • Consult on matters relating to race equality for staff and patients
  • Help assess the impact of policies and procedures
  • Share information and examples of good practice on BME health issues with staff and other professionals working in healthcare and community organisations
  • Monitor how inclusive our services are

LGBT Staff Inclusion Network

Our Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual & Transgender (LGBT) Staff Inclusion Network is a forum for LGBT staff to support equality for people from all sexual orientations, to ensure that what we do as an employer and service provider are equal and fair.

What we do:

  • Work towards Oxford Health being included in Stonewall’s annual ‘Top 100 Employers’ ranking
  • Advise on internal policies and procedures, communications and service delivery to LGBT communities
  • Raise awareness of LGBT health issues in the community and among staff
  • Work with other LGBT networks and community groups in the region
  • Support communications for events such as the annual LGBT History month in February
  • Support social and networking events such as Oxford Pride

Respect-Ability

This is a support group with an exclusive focus on equality for people with disabilities, both for patients and staff.

What we do:

  • Challenge and question ableism, and voice the case for disability equality
  • Advise on how to improve the quality and provision of services and care for patients and staff
