Anti-inflammatory drugs ‘could fight depression’

‘Scientists at seven UK universities are to set up a research consortium aimed at exploiting a newly discovered link between immune disorders and mental illness.

The connection raises hopes that anti-inflammatory drugs can be adapted to treat patients with depression or senile dementia.’

Change to NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research

The Programme Grants will now launch three competitions per year. Stage 1 applications will open in February, June and October and this change will be in effect from Competition 20 which opens on 10 February 2016. The deadline for submission of Stage 1 applications for Competition 20 is 6 April 2016.
