About the Oxfordshire Community Diabetes Team
There are over 28,000 people in Oxfordshire with diabetes: this number increases by about 2,200 every year.
Our service covers the whole of Oxfordshire and is staffed by six Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSNs) and three administrative staff. The DSNs all have formal qualifications in diabetes care and can prescribe medications.
We support primary care clinicians (such as GPs and Practice Nurses) to care for people with diabetes. We are particularly keen to help improve diabetes control and quality of life by encouraging self-management – to help with this, we provide free education courses across Oxfordshire.
