Support for carers

Friends & Family Meetings

We offer a monthly group for the Family and Friends of patients who suffer from eating disorders across
Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. Your loved one does not have to be a patient with us for you to attend the group; it is free and open to all.

The group meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 11.00-12.30 in Seminar Room 1 at Savernake Hospital.  Refreshments are available.

If you would like any further information please contact Cotswold House Marlborough on 01865 904402.  Details of the meetings can be also be found on the notice board at the ward entrance.  If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please pass your details to a member of staff.

Group Guidelines

We have created some guidelines for our Friends and Family Group, so that new members know what to expect.  They can be viewed here: Group Guidelines

If you are concerned about a friend or family member and would like them to access our services, their first point of contact should be their GP.

Carers Workshops

We will be running several skills based workshops, aimed at those supporting and living with somebody with an eating disorder.  The date of the next workshop will be announced shortly.  For further information, please contact the office manager on 01865 902534.

Support from the team

As with all services, we respect patient confidentiality, so we cannot talk directly about a patient’s treatment or care plan without their consent.  However, we do encourage our patients to involve their familes in their treatment, as family support can be invaluable.

The team are able to offer support and advice for families, and we may recommend Family Therapy for some patients.

If you would like some support from the team, please contact us on 01865 904099, or speak to a team member involved with your loved one’s care.  You may also wish to visit our Resources or Frequently Asked Questions pages for some helpful information.
