The Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee (HOSC) is run by the county council.
In Oxfordshire HOSC works to strengthen the voice of local people and improve the health of residents by ensuring their needs and experiences are integral to the purchase, delivery and development of health services.
It does this by examining and scrutinising proposals that change how local NHS services are run. As part of this the committee consults a variety of external bodies.
Committee members meet around every 10 weeks and consist of county councillors, and representatives from the county’s four district councils, the city council and GPs. There is a separate HOSC for the Horton Hospital in Banbury.
