During the COVID-19 pandemic many organisations are offering their training resources free to all healthcare workers including BMJ and RCGP.


Use the HEE Star to support workforce transformation. This tool from the Workforce Transformation team at Health Education England helps providers understand their workforce requirements and also provides a range of potential solutions including around Upskilling, new roles and new ways of working.

BMJ Learning

The BMJ Learning modules here are free to BMA members and others via subscription.

e-Learning for Health from Health Education England

HEE makes a very wide range of programmes available free to the whole healthcare workforce and students via e-Learning for Health (e-LfH). e-LfH programmes include the full range of statutory and mandatory training modules (including UK Core Skills Training Framework) and online assessments, as well as modules on clinical and management topics. Most of the content is also available via the NHS Electronic Staff Record (ESR).

Future Learn

Future Learn offers free online courses from a variety of universities and organisations from across the globe, including an extensive range of healthcare courses.

Health Education West Midlands

Health Education West Midlands Learning website – A range of useful professional development resources, including primary care.

HealthKnowledge eLearning Centre

HealthKnowledge eLearning Centre – A mix of free and fee-based study aids for learning and teaching purposes from the Public Health Action Support Team (PHAST), appealing to different learning styles. Spanning soft skills such as Getting the message across to Epidemiology. Originally aimed at public health trainees but broadened to support all working in the fields of health and social care.

HEE Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is a platform where NHS organisations can share their learning resources. Anyone with an e-learning for Healthcare account or NHS OpenAthens account can see a wide range of learning resources created by colleagues across the NHS.

National Association of Primary Care

The National Association of Primary Care, HFMA and Capsticks have collaborated to create the Diploma in Advanced Primary Care Management, a one-year online masters level programme, designed specifically for individuals managing primary care locally and at scale. The diploma consists of three modules that help learners to develop the expertise to lead the transformation of primary care as set out in the NHS long-term plan and GP contract.

NHS e-learning repository

The NHS E-learning Repository is a collection of eLearning objects and learning resources from across the NHS.

OnMedica

OnMedica – Free accredited online learning from the publishers of HSJ produced by clinicians.

RCGP Online Learning Environment

RCGP Online Learning Environment – Courses and updates for general practice on clinical, non clinical and commissioning topics. All healthcare professionals, trainees and students can register for a RCGP e-learning account, which provides free access to selected RCGP courses and updates.

Skills for Health (formerly National Skills Academy)

The Skills for Health elearning platform provides an extensive portfolio of national core learning.

Social Care Institute for Excellence

Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) provides a range of free elearning resources specifically aimed at health and social care including safeguarding, mental health, person centred care, learning disabilities, communication and management skills.
