NHS England

NHS England sets the priorities and direction of the NHS in England.

NHS England’s Long Term Plan describes its plans to bring the NHS into the 21st century. Plans include moving work out of hospitals into primary care, and more joined up services. For Primary care  this includes digital consultations, a greater role for multidisciplinary teams and pharmacies and many other plans.

In 2014 NHS England published their Five Year Forward View,  followed in 2017 by the Five Year Forward View – Next Steps  which outline a new vision for the future of the NHS based around new models of care. The General Practice Forward View (setting out a detailed, costed package of investment and reform for primary care now through to 2020), the role of clinical pharmacists, GP contract, new care models involving primary care and much more.
