Consultation on the GP census 2015

The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) currently produces an annual publication of General and Personal Medical Services statistics (GP Census). The GP Census is collected each year and records numbers and details of GPs in England along with information on their practices, staff, patients, and the services they provide.

The HSCIC is consulting on changes to this publication. These changes are intended to make use of the opportunities available from the Workforce Minimum Dataset (wMDS) to provide statistics which produce a clearer picture of the current and future workforce needs of General Practice. It will enable service commissioners, providers and others to conduct their workforce planning duties effectively, and provide information to better inform the public of the current position and changes in the workforce funded through their taxes.

The consultation runs to 23 Jan 2015 . Details, including how you may respond, are available on the HSCIC website here.
