Primer for General Practice on Dementia

“We need to expand the capabilities of primary care around dementia care. In the future, some diagnoses will have to be made in primary care if we are to avoid neglecting those who do not engage with an outside service.
Much of the supportwe can give to patients and carers is through teamwork and building relationships – it is not technically difficult. There is a vast amount of information available about dementia, but it is in many different placesand very little of it is written from a GP perspective.
This booklet is an attempt to gather information that seems most relevant to GPs, de-mystify it and put it into one place. It should form a framework for further learning rather than act as a definitive text.”
