Training needs of the workforce

Buckinghamshire New University has recently completed a training needs analysis of the ‘out of hospital’ workforce across the Thames Valley region. The project included 9 NHS providers, 11 CCGs, 9 local authorities, and a wide range of independent organisations, such as GP practices and care homes

The evaluation made a number of recommendations, including increased inter-professional education and training (both pre- and post-registration), greater co-location of services and professionals, developing specific knowledge and skills, particularly of long term conditions, diabetes, mental health and COPD for community staff, and improved IT communication between hospitals, primary, community health and social care services.

The full report and an abridged report are available on the HEE website.
