Book Library Training

OHFT libraries offer specialist information skills training for those eligible. More details about popular training offered are provided here, whilst further topics to support information skills are available on request. Training is free and open to all NHS staff employed by OHFT and staff employed by organisations where an SLA exists. To book a place or arrange tailored training sessions contact library.enquiries@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk or  fill out the Training Request Form below.

Outline of services, how to find books and how to register for an NHS OpenAthens account. Duration: 20 minutes.

How to find a known journal citation and how to conduct systematic literature searches on databases to find evidence on a topic. Duration: 1 hour.
If you are requesting literature search training please note that it is a requirement that you have reviewed the library guidance on literature searching before attending a training session

Definition of critical appraisal, levels of evidence, critical appraisal checklists and what to consider when appraising systematic reviews, RCTs and qualitative research. Duration: 1 hour.

How to manually insert references, how to import references from a database search into EndNote and how to format citations and bibliographies in Microsoft Word using EndNote. Duration: 1 hour.

Advice on how to set up team journal clubs. Librarians can also conduct literature searches and supply articles for journal clubs.

Opportunity to discuss a relevant article with peers to see how it relates to practice and the NMC Code. Duration: 1 hour.
