On the record
“I feel completely taken aback and humbled to have been nominated let alone to have won this award – thank you!”
Charlie has worked as a Speech and Language Therapy Technical Instructor for 10 years and together with therapists she supports children with speech, language and communication needs in schools, nurseries and at home.
She said: “Whilst there can be great challenges and frustrations in working for the NHS this is undoubtedly the most rewarding and fulfilling role I have had.
“I have had a few different roles in the past, this being my first for the NHS, having worked as a teacher and in children’s publishing before that.
“This role allows me to help and make a difference, to children who really need it. Speech and language therapy is such a vital service and I work with the most hardworking, committed and compassionate group of people. I’ve learnt so much from them all, it’s a privilege to be part of the team.”
