According to new statistics, 60.5 million people had glaucoma globally in 2010 and given the aging of the world’s population, this number may increase to almost 80 million by 2020. World Glaucoma Week is set up to highlight and to promote the importance of glaucoma patient support groups in bringing the message of early detection and lifelong treatment into the communities where it is desperately needed.
