Did you know that free mental health talking therapy is just a telephone call or text message away?
Diana reached out for support after overcoming her concerns about how mental ill health has historically been viewed by her community.
She said: “Therapy has made me see life in a different way because I was in a very dark place. I was withdrawn from the world. I really didn’t want to interact with anyone because I thought no one would understand where I was coming from.”
She continued: “When I shared with my therapist, it really made the burden less and less heavy on me. Now I can see a brighter future in front of me.”
NHS Buckinghamshire Talking Therapies and NHS Oxfordshire Talking Therapies are the new names for Healthy Minds and TalkingSpace Plus.
Talking Therapies, or psychological therapies are effective and confidential treatments which can help adults with common mental health problems like stress, anxiety and depression. They are delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practioners.
You can refer yourself directly via telephone, text or online form. Alternatively you can also speak to your GP for a referral. And support is delivered in person, by video call, over the phone or online.
From April, Healthy Minds became known as NHS Buckinghamshire Talking Therapies and Talking Space Plus as NHS Oxfordshire Talking Therapies.
The name change was designed to ensure the public understand what the services provide and how they can benefit from the NHS care they provide. The name change was part of a nationwide renaming of all Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services across the country.
