We are pleased to announce that Professor Cathy Henshall (Professor of Nursing, OxINMAHR, Oxford Brookes University, NIHR Associate Director of, Nursing and Midwifery, NMAHP Research Lead, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, Co-Director NIHR Oxford Health Clinical Research Facility) has been promoted at Oxford Brookes University securing her personal Professorship (starting September 2023).
Cathy said:
“In my newly appointed role as Professor of Nursing across Oxford Brookes University and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust one of my key drivers is to help ensure that all nurses are encouraged to engage with research and are supported to develop their own research career pathways. My clinical academic role in Oxford and my national NIHR role as Associate Director of Nursing and Midwifery both provide real opportunities to promote and advocate for nurses and midwives to support, deliver and lead research regardless of their roles or where they are based.
I intend to continue to lead research on workforce development and ensure impact by finding meaningful, pragmatic solutions to some of the challenges that nurses, and other healthcare workers face in the workplace.
I am delighted to be able to continue to help to drive forward this research agenda as Professor of Nursing and am confident that together nurses can bring about inspired changes to the healthcare landscape through research.”
Professor Paul Carding, Director of OxINMAHR and Associate Dean (Research and Knowledge Exchange) at Oxford Brookes University said:
“Cathy has fully deserved this promotion due to her exceptional leadership profile at both national and local levels as well as her personal record as an outstanding nurse researcher. Congratulations indeed and I am sure that there will be many more success stories in the future as we continue to work together”.
Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust would like to congratulate Cathy and wish her every success in her new role.
