On the last day of September, staff and patients at Witney Community Hospital came together to celebrate food and culture from around the world at a very autumnal party.
Dance Practitioner and Arts Co-ordinator for the Creating with Care project, Angela Conlan led an around the world dance session, with Greek plate dancing, Spanish maracas and a ‘horse ride through a park in Italy’.
The Hospital’s curate helped staff and patients celebrate the harvest with singing, and a patient sang an old Irish song ‘from the heart’. Staff and patients also enjoyed food (including lots of cake) from around the world, all donated by staff and volunteers.
The event was part of ‘Creating With Care’, a programme of regular creative interventions in the hospital environment to enhance the patient and carer experience and sense of wellbeing. ‘Creating With Care’ has been developed by West Oxfordshire District Council as part of the Council’s priority to enable residents, particularly those in vulnerable groups, to have better access to health and wellbeing services and activities, and has been funded from developer contributions.
