On 19 July 2012, over 100 of our staff from all areas of the Trust came together for our staff conference. The focus of the day was to launch our Strategic Framework, setting out our vision, values and objectives and talking with our staff about how we can deliver these. Dr Clive Meux, our Medical Director gave a presentation with Mike McEnaney our Director of Finance, that set out how we hope to deliver our strategic objectives and deliver the large amounts of cost improvements expected of us as an NHS Trust. There was an Executive Board session where staff members got to quiz the Directors.

Staff then split into smaller groups for ‘ideas generation’ sessions. This was a really lively and interesting part of the day as all our staff were contributing their thoughts and ideas about how we can transform the way we work, deliver high quality services and look to make some cost savings. Staff have since told us that they were pleased to participate and share their views. We are now in the process of collating all of the valuable information that was shared in the sessions to work up an action plan in order to put some of the ideas into action.

Professor John Geddes who is our Director of Research ended the conference with a thought provoking presentation on how Research and Development can support the future of the Trust.

Staff have been feeding back their views on the conference and have told us it was a great opportunity to hear more about the bigger picture and how the Trust is impacted by the wider NHS challenges. Staff also said it was a great opportunity to meet other people from different service areas, share knowledge and ideas in a way that would not happen during their usual working lives.

Thank you to all the staff who attended, we hope you had a useful and productive day.
