‘Celebrating Our Lives’ is an event organised together with and for people with experience of mental health issues along with people who work for Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership.

The event, to be held at Banbury Town Hall on Tuesday 13 March between 11am and 3pm, aims to focus on fun and enjoyment and breakdown assumptions about living with mental health.

On the day there will be a range of activities, including yoga, tai chi, calligraphy, creative writing, and drumming as well as a relaxation space for people when they need a break.

Representatives from a range of local services will also be there to share information about opportunities available for mental health recovery.

Most of the groups will be led by people with direct experience of using mental health services.

‘Celebrating Our Lives’ has been funded and supported by Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership.

Simon Newton, Restore’s regional head of operations, said: “It used to be that people felt afraid of prejudice and the fear of judgement stopped them from getting help. Now people feel they can be open about their mental health, as this Celebrating our Lives events shows. That’s amazing news because mental health challenges affect one in four people in the UK in any one year.”
