Concert strikes the right note with patients
Two local musicians have given a special performance at an Oxford Health ward.
Patients at Oxford Health’s City Community Hospital enjoyed a special socially-distanced concert today.
Gabriel Amherst and Noel Rainbird visited the ward to perform a wide range of music including pieces from French Baroque composer Boismortier to American Ragtime legend Scot Joplin.
Both musicians live in Oxford and are members of Oxford ensembles’ Instruments of Time and Truth’ and ‘Oxford Bach Soloists.’
City Community Hospital is located at the Fulbrook Centre in the grounds of Churchill Hospital and provides rehabilitation and palliative care for people who no longer require the services of an acute hospital.
The performance was arranged by Angela Conlan, Co-ordinator for Oxford Health Arts Partnership. She said: “It was great to hear the ward reverberate to some beautifully played sounds and see the patients enjoy something a little different.
“I know that Gabriel and Noel enjoyed the performance too and I would like to thank them for taking the time to come along and play such a nice selection of pieces.”
