Dementia support pop-up coming to Aylesbury

A special pop-up shop run by people from Oxford Health’s Memory Clinic, the Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK, Carers Bucks and Be Healthy Bucks will be open from 10am until 2pm at Health on the High Street, Unit 33, Friars Square (near Waterstones the bookshop). The pop up shop has been named ‘Lets Talk Dementia.’

The aim of the day is to help people to understand dementia and how it is diagnosed. Support people to live well by making them aware of benefit entitlement and raising awareness of non-pharmacological strategies, communication and technology. Carers will also be able to find out more about CarersBucks and carers assessment.

Robert Standen, an Oxford Health dementia nurse specialist, said: “We want to make finding out more about dementia and getting answers to questions as easy for people as possible. While there is lots of information on the internet sometimes there’s nothing quite like being able to speak to someone face-to-face and in person.

“I would encourage anyone who has an interest in dementia to call by and say hello.”
