Adults in Buckinghamshire in need of mental health support are urged to refer before the 13th of January as extra appointments are being made available

Blue Monday may not be real, but anxiety, stress and depression are, so adults across Buckinghamshire are urged not to wait to ask for help if struggling this winter.

From courses and groups to one to one support via phone or in-person, Buckinghamshire Talking Therapies offer a range of tried and tested techniques to help overcome common mental health challenges.

The service is available to provide free, expert mental health advice to adults across Buckinghamshire. To make sure that everyone is responded to quickly, the service will be holding extra assessment days on the 13th of January to help reduce waiting times.

Josef Landsberg, Deputy Clinical Lead at Buckinghamshire Talking Therapies said;

“We know that winter can be hard for many of us, and struggles with mental health can be even tougher at this time of year. Blue Monday may have been made up by travel companies, but anxiety and depression over the middle of the winter are very real.
We want to make sure everyone trying to access the service at this time gets assessed as quickly as possible, so we’re adding extra assessment slots to help understand your needs. Help us help you as soon as we can by making sure your GP has referred you or you have self-referred before the 13th of January.”
Telephone assessments take around 40 minutes, and getting referred to the service is easy. You can be referred through your GP, or self-refer and book your 1st appointment directly online via our website www.bucks-talking-therapies.nhs.uk.
