The Fulbrook Centre, within the grounds of Churchill Hospital, Headington, offers palliative and rehabilitation care for those who no longer require the services of an acute hospital.
The hospital has a dedicated team of nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists which is supported by GPs and gerontologists (doctors specialising in the care of older people). Staff work closely with social services to source care placements and liaise with other care agencies. patients also enjoy the privacy of a single room at the unit, which was refurbished in in 2014 and replaces a hospital previously located at The John Radcliffe Hospital.
Adetokunbo Adegboyega, Matron at City Hospital, said: “Our team works tirelessly to provide an excellent service to our patients therefore we really appreciate I Want Great Care feedback as it keeps the team motivated to keep up the good work. I am very proud of my colleagues when we are praised by patients and their carers, it means so much to be recognised.”
All patients and service users who receive care and support from Oxford Health are encouraged to provide reviews on the independent I Want Great Care website. The Trust welcomes reviews as they help our teams learn where the quality and standards of care can be improved. It also lets us know where our teams are providing good and compassionate care and allows us to publicly recognise their work.
One service user said: “The staff went above and beyond to explain treatment and why it was required. I was made to feel very at ease.”
Another reviewer complimented the team: “The therapists were amazing. Thank you so much, now I can walk. I am so pleased, the staff were extremely kind and helpful, taking the time to explain everything.”
