Dr Anwar and Dr Lee hope to address some of the common mental health issues faced by elderly patients including delirium, depression and dementia. These are complex topics which are often misunderstood and can present significant challenges for those involved in their care. Drs Anwar and Lee hope that this interactive session will provide practical information to enhance your understanding and improve your practice.

Dr Aneeba Anwar is a specialist registrar in Old Age Psychiatry in Oxford. She is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and has a Masters Degree in Psychiatric Practice. She has a particular interest in dementia care and has given numerous talks to carers of patients with dementia. In 2012 she published a book entitled “First Reminiscence Book for Younger People with Dementia”.  Dr Anwar currently divides her time between Cherwell Inpatient Ward and the Community Mental Health Team.

Dr Gillian Lee is a specialist registrar in Old Age Psychiatry in Oxford. She is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is currently undertaking a Masters in Gerontology (The study of age and ageing) at King’s College in London. Dr Lee also has a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine which was gained while she was working on a Care of the Elderly medical ward. She currently works on Sandford Ward, which is an inpatient mental health unit for older adults.
