Dr Mary Cole and Dr Vikki Laakkonen present a joint talk looking at the current trends and thinking around eating disorders and deliberate self-harm in young people and the help available to provide support to those in distress.

Dr Vikki Laakkonen, consultant psychiatrist, specialises in eating disorders and worked in London and the South East before setting up the eating disorder programme in Salisbury. Dr Laakkonen will talk about her experiences working with young people who have eating disorders.

Dr Mary Cole, consultant psychiatrist, has worked in Salisbury since 2005 following training in Wessex and London. She is experienced in both inpatient and community psychiatry and has been awarded prizes from the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal College of Psychiatry for her work on women’s mental health. Dr Cole will discuss deliberate self-harm in young people and how the services available to support them.
