The new Highfield Adolescent Unit on the Warneford Hospital site is continuing to make excellent progress.  Those that have visited the Warneford Hospital will have noticed the rapid construction of the new Unit which is due to complete at the end of this year.

This exciting new development will see a brand new mental health inpatient facility for the young people of Oxfordshire and beyond.  It represents an investment of £11.5m and will replace the current outdated Unit also on the Warneford Hospital site.

The new 18-bed facility has been designed with young people and staff and includes a Learning Zone with classrooms, gym, music room / studio and ‘chill out’ area. The music room has been made possible with a generous donation by the Oxford Hospital Services Charity to the Trust’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

In addition, the Unit will have a large separate play, relaxation and gardening areas along with an improved working environment for staff.

This significant investment will bring many benefits to the young people using the facilities, their families and carers.
