Changes to services during industrial action being taken by doctors

Changes to services during industrial action being taken by doctors – 7.00am on Tuesday 19 September to 7.00am Saturday 23 September

We would like to reassure you that we are committed to making sure care, treatment and appointments for patients is disrupted as little as possible during this week’s strike action.

The action is being taken first by consultants and then junior doctors from 7.00am on Tuesday 19 September through to 7.00am on Saturday 23 September.

You will be contacted if any appointments are cancelled.

Reduced hours

Abingdon Emergency Multidisciplinary Unit (EMU)

During the current industrial action being taken by doctors between 19 and 22 September 2023, changes have been made to the opening hours of the Emergency Multidisciplinary Unit (EMU) at Abingdon Community Hospital as follows:

  • Wednesday, 20 September – opening hours will be 10.00am to 4.00pm

Getting help

Patients should not put off seeking urgent or emergency care, with key services continuing to operate. But, patients should only call 999 if it is a medical or mental health emergency (when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk).

Non-urgent advice: Get support

Where the situation is not life-threatening, support will be available through NHS111 online or through NHS 111.

This is for both urgent physical help and for accessing our Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire 24/7 mental health helpline.
