Smartphone app can direct you to the right service nearest you

Keeping well this winter just got a bit smarter

A free smartphone app which signposts to Oxfordshire’s health services such as GP practices, pharmacies, first aid and minor injuries units could #HelpUsHelpYou this winter.

‘Health and Care Oxfordshire’ uses digital mapping to allow people to find their nearest health service, wherever they are in the county.

The app highlights the type of injuries or illnesses treated at minor injuries units or first aid units in Oxfordshire, and the advice and support provided by local pharmacies and GP practices.

People can also find information via the app on a range of services delivered by sexual health clinics and where these are located in Oxfordshire.

It signposts to the county’s adult social care website, and also to Patient Access, which allows people to use online services provided by their GP practice.

Dr Ed Capo-Bianco, Urgent Care lead Oxfordshire Clinical Commission Group said: “The app advises people on the best health services to use if they are unwell or need treatment – it also shows exactly where these services are located in Oxfordshire.”
