The Speech and Language Therapy team at Townlands Hospital, Henley has been the grateful recipient of an iPad, generously donated by the League of Friends.
The iPad is an invaluable tool for both therapy and assessment purposes. Specialist apps (applications) for the iPad can be demonstrated to patients and as the iPad is light and portable it is perfect for taking on visits in the community or using on hospital wards.
The touch screen of an iPad is very intuitive for patients who have never used a computer before and most people find it very easy to use. Apps, developed by Speech and Language Therapists, can be used for independent practice outside of the formal therapy session. This is particularly beneficial for those living alone who have little opportunity to practice speech skills on a daily basis.
Staff working in the Speech and Language Therapy team at Townlands Hospital would like to say a big thank you to the League of Friends for their kind donation.
