If you would like to find out what positive steps you can take to live well and be healthier, then this is the event for you!

Live better, live longer – learning disability health promotion event 2023

Organised by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust ‘Live better, live longer’ is a free drop-in event for people with a learning disability and their carers.

We welcome you to attend at any time during the day.

 

Focusing on people’s physical health, this event will help you learn more about how to stay well, and what services are here to support you.

Event areas

The four main areas of the event will be:

1. Website launch

The All About Health project launch event

All About Health is a new website designed to provide health information all in one place. From head to toe, there will be webpages and easy read documents to support you to understand your body, health and conditions.

This will be launched on the day by Oxfordshire Family Support Network who will demonstrate how the website works, and help you have a go!

2. How to improve your health

Local partners will be at the event to tell you about how they can help you stay healthy. There will be people from the learning disability team at the event who can talk to you about your questions on:

  • Healthy lifestyles and healthy eating
  • NHS, Social Care and Support Services that are available to you
  • Accessible information on health matters that are more likely to affect someone with a learning disability

 

3. Your annual health check

Learn about what is involved in your annual health check and how to ask your GP to arrange one.

4. Health screenings

Are you aware of what health screenings you can have and what they involve? Come and speak to the health screening teams to find out more!

Please tell other people about this event if you think they would like to attend and benefit from it.

There is a café at Unipart where you can buy food and drinks.

How to get to the event

The building is called Unipart Conference Centre.

Parking

Parking is free at Unipart House and there is disabled parking available.

Public Transport

You can get to the event via the city11 bus route. There are two bus stops near Unipart Conference Centre.

1. Bus stop on Oxford Road opposite Buildbase. This is a 8 minute walk to the event.

2. Bus stop on Watlington Road outside Lidl. This is an 11 minute walk to the event.
