May Health Matters: Connecting with Nature – join our webinar

May 10 - 16 is the Mental Health Awareness Week and Oxford Health is joining the week’s hosts the Mental Health Foundation for connecting with nature.

May Health Matters: Connecting with Nature – join our webinar

Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week will take place on May 10 to 16. The theme is ‘Nature’.

Nature is so central to our psychological and emotional health that it’s almost impossible to realise good mental health for all without a greater connection to the natural world. At Oxford Health we have many initiatives that tap into this great resource, and one the trust’s strategic priorities is to make the best use of our resources and protect the environment.

Join us to hear more about these initiatives in the Virtual Health Matters: Connecting with Nature on Wednesday, May 12 from 12:30pm to 1.15pm

To join, please click on bit.ly/Health-Matters-Nature

Our event will be chaired by Trust Chair David Walker, and on the panel are:

  • John Upham, Compliance and Sustainability Manager
  • Dr Catriona Mellor, Specialty Doctor, Marlborough House Adolescent Unit
  • Julie Pink, Head of Charity and Community Involvement

John will talk about the benefits of biodiversity to physical and mental health and the steps Oxford Health is taking to ensure a greener future for the Trust and our communities. Catriona will tell us about the significant role of nature in patients recovery at Marlborough House, Swindon, where Oxford Health works closely with the Families in the Wild initiative, run by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. And Julie will tell us about Oxford Health Charity’s Green Spaces appeal, which allows staff and patients to enjoy a variety of peaceful and therapeutic green spaces across our sites.
