Mental Health Awareness Events

Positive feedback for events designed to raise awareness of resources to support those with mental illnesses.

Mental Health Awareness Events

Raising the profile of mental health and finding new and engaging ways to support those who might need to use our services is one of Maggi Tustain’s passions. Maggi, one of our support workers in the North Oxfordshire adult mental health teams, recently organised two events; one in Banbury and one it Witney to encourage patients and their family, friends and carers and local organisations to come together to share information about what help and sources of support are available in their local areas.

The events, which were supported by a number of professionals and volunteers from local organisations received very positive feedback with one patient telling us “I found it really helpful to gain more information about how I can start to build my confidence and find ways to help me get back to work after being unwell”.

Topics discussed ranged from where to access support, help with retaining employment, and specific support for people who are caring for someone with a mental health problem.

I really did not know that there was so much help that I could think about using, it has made me feel quite emotional listening to all the speakers.

We hope that similar events can be rolled out to other locations within the Trust.

On behalf of the Adult Directorate we would like to thank everyone who came along, especially the guest speakers, and a big thank you to Maggi for organising two such meaningful events which were so well received by everyone who attended.
