Following an internal application and interview process, Grant Macdonald has been appointed as interim Chief Executive for the Trust while Dr Nick Broughton takes up his interim role at BOB ICS. Grant, a mental health nurse by profession, is currently Executive Managing Director for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities.

David Walker, Chair, said:

“In Grant, Oxford Health has an accomplished executive, who brings personal experience as a nurse and as a manager in various NHS settings. We were impressed by his determination to move forward by helping our clinical staff and service leads cope with unprecedented demand.”

Grant said:

“It is a privilege to be asked to take on the role of Chief Executive for an interim period. Teams make up Oxford Health and they are the most important determinant of daily work-life experience and the quality of care.  Therefore, I am committed to ensuring we create the conditions for those teams to flourish and provide great care to the people we serve.”

Grant brings to the role nineteen years of experience as an executive board director within large and complex healthcare providers. This experience was gained in acute, community and mental health focused organisations.

He has held a range of roles covering significant operational portfolios and nursing leadership roles alongside having responsibility for strategy and workforce. He has also had a period as an interim CEO.

This appointment is subject to the approval of the Council of Governors who will meet in June.
