Calling all Armed Forces personnel – join our Step into Health Insight Day

We are dedicated in providing excellent care by excellent people. We are staging our second Insight Day on Monday, March 18, at the Warneford Hospital with the aim of helping servicemen and women seek out new roles in the health profession that utilise their transferable skills and values.

Armed Forces veterans and serving personnel on the road to civvy street are being invited sign up to a special careers event.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is staging its second Insight Day on Monday, March 18, at the Warneford Hospital, Headington, and aims to help individuals seek out new roles in the health profession that utilise their transferable skills and values.

It is part of the Step into Health Programme – a partnership between the NHS, Walking with the Wounded and The Royal Foundation – and helps service leavers, veterans and military family members.

Last year as part of the programme Oxford Health held an Insight Day attended by 27 and has since employed 10 armed forces personnel and offered guidance and support to 46 others.

Just like the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and The Army, there is a wide range of careers available for servicemen and women –  350 at Oxford Health, many of which are non-clinical.

Diane Woodward, Oxford Health’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “With Oxfordshire’s proud military heritage, the Trust is committed to helping personnel carve out new careers with us. We are dedicated in providing excellent care by excellent people.

“Whether you are interested in catering, maintenance, administration, finance, communications, management, or a role in one of the clinical services this programme will benefit you. “

Oxford Health’s commitment to the armed forces was further demonstrated by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. It has since been awarded a silver award in the Covenant’s Employer Recognition Scheme and is currently working towards achieving the gold standard.

Monday’s event will be held at the Warneford Hospital, Oxford, from 9.30am until 2pm. There’ll be talks by Trust leaders alongside veterans who have made the transition to the NHS.
