Henley Minor Injuries Unit comes under the Urgent Care Service based at Townlands Hospital which is in the heart of the town and the unit was purpose built for a minor injury unit (MIU). The unit is open seven days a week and they treat a range of conditions such as strains and sprains, broken bones, minor burns and scalds, minor eye injuries to cuts and grazes, and they treat all age groups.
Their aim is to provide a professional, patient focused service committed to caring with dignity and respect.
One reviewer clearly believes they are meeting this aim stating: “Nothing could be improved. Just delightful helpful people. We are so lucky to have this facility.”
It is staffed by autonomous highly qualified Nurse and Paramedic Specialist Practitioners who are assisted by Emergency Nurse Assistants and receptionists.
Angela Porter, clinical lead, whom has been in the Minor Injury Unit for 20 years said: “We as a team pride ourselves on providing a first class professional service to the community and each and every patient is treated as an individual with the upmost care and attention.”
Another service user said: “Friendly atmosphere. Treated with great respect and we even got a cup of tea! Perfect way to spend a couple of hours.”
Another patient who received care said: “Sensitive and friendly with good attention to detail.” While another said: “Very caring, compassionate staff who fully explained everything. Thank you all.”
A final reviewer said: “The nurse explained the process extremely well. He was extremely thorough and put me at ease throughout the examination. The examination was very detailed and I feel confident that I had the best treatment and advice. First rate attention.”
