National Institute for Health Research’s Clinical Research Facility Warneford Hospital
22 May 2013 – 09.30 – 16.00
Clinical research is the way in which we improve treatments in the NHS.
Research in Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust takes place in many settings across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and parts of Wiltshire but we have recently been given the opportunity, with funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), to open a specialised Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at the Warneford Hospital site, the ‘NIHR Oxford cognitive health clinical research facility’.
Collaborators include Oxford University and in particular the Department of Psychiatry, Department of Experimental Psychology, and the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The CRF, recently opened by Professor Dame Sally Davies (Department of Health), should significantly improve the amount of research run within the Trust and enable participants to contribute towards innovative treatment research.
On the 22 May Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is joining forces with organisations around the country to support the International Clinical Trials Day. We invite you to come join our Open Day.
This is your opportunity to come to have a look round the CRF and ask questions etc…. Join in some fun interactive activities… In addition there will be a programme of talks/seminars throughout the day.
Talks will include:
- some general research & development topics (what the CRF is and does, how research is run, etc.)
- a few talks around specific studies running locally
- experiences of taking part in research
You can drop in for a section of day or stay as long as you wish!
