We would like to pass on our congratulations and thanks to Francis Josephs, who successfully completed the London to Oxford bike ride last month. Francis, who has worked on the Highfield, our adolescent mental health unit for 20 years completed the 65 miles in a very impressive 5 hours and to date has raised over £1600. The money raised will be used to fund equipment for a new sensory room on the unit, which helps the teenagers cope with their emotions. The area helps them to de-escalate quickly and to take responsibility for their own safety. Such rooms have been remarkably successful elsewhere, and it is thanks to Francis and his amazing achievement that has meant that this room will now be a new feature within the unit.
