Oxfordshire Learning Disability ‘Have a Go’ Sports Day

To mark Learning Disability Week (18 – 24 June) adults with learning disabilities and their friends and carers are invited to come along to the Oxfordshire Learning Disability ‘Have a Go’ Sports Day.

The event will be taking place at Horspath Athletics Track on Tuesday 19 June 2018 between 10.00am-2.00pm.

This event coordinated by Oxford Health NHS, OxSPA and OxForward provides the opportunity to try new activities and sports, meet new people, learn about local opportunities and improve their health.

Kirsten Prance, Associate Clinical Director of Learning Disability services, Oxford Health NHS FT said:

“This year the focus of awareness week is health and we wanted to do something to support the health and wellbeing of people in our communities.”

Liz Williams, Learning Disability Service Director at Oxford Health NHS FT, added:

“This event is about fun and celebration of the opportunities we have to enjoy good health!”

Everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy this fantastic event and join in with the sports, such as football, track events, cycling and boccia (a ball sport played by competitors who use wheelchairs). There will be refreshments available and the Sports Day is completely free for people to enter with free, accessible parking.

Any interest in potentially hosting a stall, running an activity or simply just helping out please contact Hannah.Osman@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk before Friday 8 June.
