Oxfordshire team are shining bright with five stars

Today we are praising the work of the North and West Oxon Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT) for inspiring some fantastic five star I Want Great Care Reviews.

Oxfordshire team are shining bright with five stars

The North and West Oxon AMHT offer assessment and treatments for people aged 18-65 years with mental health problems in and around Banbury and Witney.

There are people from different professional backgrounds and experiences working in the team including support workers, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and psychiatrists. Some of their workers are from partnership agencies such as MIND and Restore. They all work together to support people who may be feeling suicidal, low in mood, or have a psychotic illness.

One client under the care of the Banbury team said: “I have had superb care at the Elms Centre. I have now been discharged but I feel confident that should I need further support they are within easy reach. It has made a huge difference to me to have this expert care available locally.”

The team give people the support they need to continue a full and active life in the community.

Jenny Guest, team manager, said: “We would like to thank those who took the time to review the service – our staff are working incredibly hard with an ever-increasing need for the service. They will all appreciate this feedback!”

Another patient said: “Everything I have learnt while I’ve been here has given me coping mechanisms and the tools to deal with things better and face things head on and have self-confidence and be mindful. Thank you.”

A final reviewer said: “The therapists were all so nice and willing to listen and give advice. The education I have had is invaluable to me. I will take a lot of knowledge about depression away with me. It has been great for me coming to the day hospital. Thanks to all the staff.”
