Patients are grateful to outpatient service supporting the local community

The fantastic work done at the Outpatient and Community Services Unit at Chipping Norton War Memorial Community Hospital has been recognised with some outstanding independent I Want Great Care reviews.

Patients are grateful to outpatient service supporting the local community

With an NHS aim of keeping people healthy and out of hospital, the unit provides a base for health visitor, community nursing physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams which provide services both on-site and in patients’ homes, as well as an outpatient unit housing weekly and monthly outpatient clinics comprising Oxford Health and Oxford University NHS Foundation Trusts patients and staff.

One patient was overjoyed with the service she received and said: “We were seen by the consultant on time. His knowledge and explanation was outstanding. The availability of the service on our ‘doorstep’ is great. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant to talk to. The waiting area is clean, warm and comfy chairs. Thank you very much for providing such an excellent service!”

Oxford Health clinics that take place in the outpatient unit include podiatry, bladder and bowel, mental health, memory, heart failure, respiratory, physiotherapy, physical disabilities physio and speech and language. Alongside, they have an excellent x-ray service, all with an aim to provide a more local patient service within the local community.

A patient stated that the service “Could not be improved. Great confidence in the professional advice I received.”

The Oxford Health staff team, comprising a clinic clerk, receptionists plus a clinic nurse, pride themselves on giving everyone who visits a warm and friendly welcome. The team has been receiving I Want Great Care reviews since 2018, enjoying positive feedback for their service to patients attending the unit.

A patient clearly agreed and said: “Friendly staff and very informative.”

Jane O’Gorman, site administrator said: “All feedback means a lot to the team, so submitting our I Want Great Care forms each month and receiving our monthly rating is really important, for what we have done well at and anything we may improve upon.

“I am proud of the unit and what we achieve here each day, it is a privilege to be a part of such a caring and efficient service.”

Another patient said: “Very happy with the treatment I received, everybody very friendly which is nice. Thank you.”

A final reviewer said: “It was prompt and pleasantly executed. Both the receptionist and radiologist were friendly and welcoming.”
