Patients praising our five star psychiatric team

Well Done Wednesday praise goes to a mental health team that works in the emergency department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire.

Patients praising our five star psychiatric team

The five-star Psychiatric Liaison Service comprise mental health professionals who offer assessment and treatment to patients in A&E and the acute hospital who have mental health needs as well as physical health conditions needing attention, ensuring that patient care is seamless and safe.

And their dedication has been recognised by a wide range of top-rated reviews on the I Want Great Care website – an independent organisation that collates genuine reviews on services provided by the NHS.

One patient said: “I found it immediately helpful and caring to have this assessment.”

Another added: “They always listen to what you say and never judge you at face value and always suggest options to take regarding your mental health. Always polite and friendly and always there to support you regardless how big or small.”

Theresa McLarty, team manager, is rightly proud of her colleagues. She said: “Every staff member is dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care.  They are a very close, fun team who are passionate about what they do, and the service user is always their priority.”

Another reviewer said: “The lady I saw was very friendly and helpful, she explained everything to both myself and my son. She treated my son like an individual and not a patient, which made us both feel at ease. She very understanding of my son’s situation and constantly reassured him. She was very professional while still being approachable.”

“My clinician was really supportive and understanding throughout the assessment I felt safe and able to talk about my past with ease.” said a final reviewer. They also added: “I felt comfortable even when I was emotional and was reassured at all times.”
