An Oxford Health ward is being awarded with five stars for fantastic I Want Great Care Reviews.

Phoenix ward is a rising star according to patients

Phoenix Ward is an acute inpatient mental health ward based at Littlemore Mental Health Centre for male adults of working age.

The team offer support to men struggling with mental health difficulties providing them a safe environment for rehabilitation and personal growth.

A service user wrote:

“I had great care today and I had great care every day I was in hospital. The staff were all very kind and compassionate and they are all good, kind and caring people.”

Regina Duodu, Ward Manager, said:

“We’re proud to be a busy and hard-working team and delighted to hear that our patients are so positive about the work we do. Their generous feedback helps us maintain our focus on continuing to provide a positive patient experience.

“Given the current situation with COVID and its challenges the team continue to provide safe and care to their patients and also demonstrate a good support network for each other. I am so proud of this team.”

The team is made up of a consultant, two doctors and a personal assistant, two ward clerks, a modern matron, a psychologist, an activity worker, peer support workers, occupational therapists, nurses, nursing associates, health care assistants, physiotherapists, a social worker and housekeeping team.

One patient stated that the level of skills shown by the whole team throughout the phoenix ward are “exceptional.” And a parent of an inpatient felt their “concerns were taken into consideration.”

Another reviewer said: “During my short stay in the Phoenix Ward I found the staff very compassionate and caring.”

While another said: “Staff were friendly and approachable, and a good range of activities were available.”
