Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is holding a series of nine roadshow events to engage with the patients, carers, colleagues and public that want to help mould the future of healthcare provision in the counties it serves.

The first of the open events took place on Monday (12 February) at Littlemore Mental Health Centre and Warneford Hospital and saw patients along with members of the public, signing up to join the trust and learning more about membership. The roadshow will continue with a further event this month on Tuesday 20 February at Abingdon Community Hospital, between 12:00pm and 3:00pm, and more dates in March across the region.

Voting in the Council of Governors election, is limited to members of the trust. Membership registration is free and can be done online at any time or while attending one of the roadshow events.  Any member may nominate themselves to be a governor.

The trust Council of Governors join discussions alongside the Board of Directors, representing the views of members in their constituency. They are made up of the public, staff, patients and carers.  There are 10 governor vacancies to be filled at this year’s election in the spring.

Community Involvement Manager, Julie Pink said: “The roadshow is a great way to find out more about how you can get involved in the trust and have a voice in healthcare service provision. I would encourage people to come down and speak to us, get involved and sign up as a member of their trust.

“Membership is free and as Oxford Health provides services as diverse as those based in community hospitals and mental health services, school nurses, speech and language therapy, health visitors, dentistry, and talking therapies it is likely that nearly everyone in our region has a stake in the future of the trust.

“By voting for a governor, or volunteering to stand as a governor themselves, individuals are able shape the future of our trust and have their voices heard on important local healthcare topics. Your involvement makes a huge difference and the first step is joining up.”
