Sale of surplus land at Warneford Hospital, Headington

Sale of surplus land at Warneford Hospital, Headington, in order to fund improvements to facilities, and bring the Trust up to Modern Standards.

Oxfordshire Health Economy, consisting of Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, and the Thames Valley Strategic Health Authority are working in partnership on proposals for the improvement of sites for mental health services in Oxford.

The Warneford Hospital is one of the two main centres for mental healthcare in Oxford. Mental health facilities at Warneford Hospital desperately require investment to bring them up to modern care standards. The Estates Strategy proposes significant improvements to bring the wards and other departments up to modern standards. We are hoping to fund this much needed work by selling some surplus land on the hospital site for development.

This land includes the Warneford Meadow, the Warneford playing field (but not the cricket pitch) and the parcel of land adjacent to the Park Hospital. We are meeting with local residents groups to involve
them in our plans. There are no decisions taken yet on what the land will be used for once sold.
