Staff awards: Shiela is our exceptional person for January
Healthcare assistant Shiela Montiel has been selected as the trust’s Exceptional People Award winner for January for her "dedication to the urgent care service and her exceptional patient centred care."
Oxford Health’s Shiela Montiel received a new year boost as the Witney Community Hospital healthcare assistant was selected as the trust’s Exceptional People Award winner for January.
Shiela, who works in the hospital’s emergency multi-disciplinary assessment unit as her main role, as well as providing cover to the out of hours service at weekends, was nominated for her invaluable efforts.
According to colleagues, Shiela’s combination of exceptional patient centred care and her dedication to urgent care service makes her worthy of recognition.
Dr Anne Caley, in nominating Shiela for the EPA, described her hard work and dedication to the urgent care service and her exceptional patient centred care. Dr Caley said: “Shiela’s help and support is invaluable on the EMU and OOH and her forward thinking and prompt actions have on occasion ensured that some acutely unwell patients have received the treatment they needed.”
On finding out that she was January’s exceptional people winner, Shiela said: “It was a lovely surprise when I found out that I had won the award. I had no idea that I’d even been put forward for anything so it was a double surprise and I am so grateful to my colleagues for nominating me.”
Shiela will receive a certificate and our thanks for her valued service to the trust and its patients.
