The Psychological Therapies Pathway is made up of psychological therapists from a wide range of therapeutic approaches and professions including the fantastic administrators. They work across Oxfordshire as part of the adult and older adult specialist mental health teams and also in some of the inpatient units.
Liam Cuttell, Team Manager, said: “The team has faced significant challenges during COVID and risen to them brilliantly.
“At the start of the first lockdown all the clinical staff supported the Adult Mental Health Teams (AMHT) and Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), working on duty and assessing patients whilst moving to digital working to see their own patients. Even during this time, they developed an expanded group programme to increase access for patients but what has really encouraged the team is the feedback from patients.”
Psychological therapies are open to people of all ages and include a range of treatments in one-to-one sessions, groups, on the telephone or online.
One patient found being “in the same room at the same time” really helped. They said: “It felt very non-judgmental in my sessions and the lady just listened and the things she said really helped me to find out myself how to deal with my feelings in a much more positive and open way.”
Another service user said: “The staff here are very nice; the place feels calm and welcoming. The treatment is exactly what I was hoping for.”
A further patient of the service stated: “I felt that my therapist really understood my problem and made suggestions on to how I could help myself.”
A final service user left a review saying: “From the moment of referral, I felt supported. Areas I have found difficult to explore were made easy. Everyone from admin to doctors has been supportive.”
